These elements are crucial to ensure the sustainable development of our quality life for existing and future generations. Through our teamwork, Spectra Technologies has been actively working with industrial partners, suppliers, service providers especially ourselves to meet or exceed all applicable environmental government requirements worldwide. Among these requirements are the Environmental Management System, EU's RoHS and WEEE Directives, and also Measures for Administration of the Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products in PRC.

RoHS Directive
The RoHS Directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) adopted by the European Union restricts the use of certain substances currently used in or as part of the manufacturing process in certain electronic components and assemblies. Restricted substances are cadmium, hexavalent chromium, mercury, lead and certain brominated flame retardants (PBB and PBDE) [ref: European Directive 2002/95/EC 27-January-2003].

WEEE Directive
On August 13, 2005, WEEE or the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, went into effect. Through the WEEE directive, the EU has mandated the collection and treatment of electronic and electrical equipment at end-offlife. Producers of electrical and electronic equipment products face strict new compliance rules for collection, dismantling and recovery of waste equipment across ten broad categories, including IT and telecoms, electrical tools and instrumentation products.

Roadmap
For the RoHS positioning, including Measures for Administration of the Pollution Control of Electronic Information Products in PRC, Spectra Technologies product developing focused on materials substitution and integrates new requirements for supply chain, production procurement and manufacturing processes for RoHS Directive. We are relying on our approval suppliers to deliver RoHS-compliant parts and materials now. Started from March 2007, we have RoHS-compliant Terminal series to serve our clients need. And we have a green "e" label on our product to indicate it is RoHS compliant.

For the WEE positioning, Spectra Technologies fully supports and is committed to complying with the WEEE Directives.
