A lot of China's factories house more than 1,000 workers. During lunchtime, time could be wasted is queuing for advance payment rather than take meal or break. In order to solve this problem, a chain factory group in Shunde deployed EMA in their factory canteens in mid 2000.
The system supporting EMA has 2 sets of network design. Both carries SPECTRA Technologies' S9010 multi-function integrated cordless POS Terminal as the host; through a multiplexor, S9010 links maximum 8 EMAs in a row. The first set connects directly with the CA while taking S9010 to preset 3 different fare levels. The second set connects the CA through the CU, allowing 5 preset menus for factory workers and visitors.
The system accepts all e-purses that are compliance to People's Bank of China's IC Card standard. Therefore customers of the canteen do not need to apply for a separate card while their existing IC bank cards, which also handle account management, serve the purpose.
